It's hard to find something to do with you house these days since all is so costly it seems. But fear not, there are still a few things that you can do that are relatively cheap while still allowing you to spend ability time with your loved ones.
Start A Hobby
While some hobbies are no ifs ands or buts very costly to do there are still many that are cheap and can be enjoyed by all. A hobby can be anyone from building puzzles to fishing. Puzzles are very cheap these days and the more interpret ones can provide a few hours of fun for everybody. If you have children they are great because they teach them how to match shapes as well as colors.
When I was younger I know that they had 3D puzzles that you could buy and no ifs ands or buts build a corporeal structure that would stand up from the table. Too many families nowadays are cooped up inside their homes and even though they are so close to each other there is very tiny real communication. A quick trip to the supermarket can yield steaks, hot dogs, hamburger meat, chips, sodas, water and snacks (don't forget the buns!). If you do buy hamburger meat its a good idea to put in order it at home instead of getting to the park and then trying to fix them up.
Most local city parks have bbq pits or stands installed so you may not even have to bring a bbq yourself. Just make sure you bring something to clean the grill with, you can commonly find a grill cleaner at your local supermarket or hardware store and can be bought for a few dollars.
One of my local parks has a few dissimilar areas for volleyball but if yours doesn't you can all the time bring a soccer ball. If it's while the summertime when it is no ifs ands or buts warm out you can all the time make some water balloons as well for the kids to throw at each other, just make sure to remind them to pick up the popped balloons so that they don't leave a mess for the next family.

While you can't necessarily talk while a movie you can all the time spend time together watching it and then talking about it afterward.
